Ukraine increased grain exports by 35% compared with last season – expert

According to operative data, since the beginning of 2013/14 MY, and as of April 10, Ukraine already exported 32.4 mln tonnes of grain cargoes, up 8.4 mln tonnes compared with the same period last season, declared Rodion Rybchinskiy, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, on April 15 during his speech at the press-conference "Grain cargoes logistics: exports in the new environment of Ukraine".

According to him, grains and pulses formed the main share of in the export structure. The share reached nearly 27.6 mln tonnes, including 17.5 mln tonnes of maize, up 56% compared with the same period last season (11.2 mln tonnes). Also, Ukraine exported 1.65 mln tonnes of grain by-products, up 2% compared with last MY (1.62 mln tonnes).

R.Rybchinskiy also noted that 86% of grain cargoes (28 mln tonnes) and 56% of grain by-products (0.93 mln tonnes) from the general volume of agricultural commodity exports were shipped through the sea terminals.
