Ukraine: low quality requirements for grains complicate competition on the global market
Due to the low qualitative requirements for grains on the domestic market, Ukraine faces some difficulties in competition on the world market, for example with France, where the domestic market has the high requirements for quality of produced grains, declared Rodion Rybchinskiy, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, on May 29 at the press-conference "Grain market of Ukraine: problems and solutions. Forecasts of grain production and exports in 2014/15 MY".
He said that to date the Ukrainian domestic market is not ready to pay “quality bonus” to domestic agricultural producers. In turn, Nikolai Gorbachev, Director of New World Grain Ukraine LLC, noted that the North African countries which import French wheat, are sure of its quality, and purchase the Ukrainian grain "on a trial basis” only.
