Ukraine: situation in Donetsk oblast may affect flour exports – expert
The current situation in Donetsk oblast may make serious adjustments to the export trading of Ukrainian flour, declared Rodion Rybchinskiy, General Director of the organization “Flour millers of Ukraine”, on June 11 during the press-conference "Condition and prospects of the Ukrainian flour market in the current environment".
According to him, in 2013 the Mariupol Commercial Sea Port provided 53% of the general export shipments of Ukrainian flour. If the situation arises which creates the impossible conditions for operating of the port, then the flour shipments on foreign markets, primarily including the countries of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, will be significantly hampered. Also, the expert added that redirecting of the commodity volumes to the Kherson port will face logistical difficulties, and lead to growing of the prices of flour export consignments.
