Bulgaria: export potential of sunflower seed is high
According to the Bulgarian market operators, the National Grain and Feed Agency of the country published the updated estimation of sunflower seed exports and stocks in Bulgaria as of March 31, 2014.
In particular, as of March 31 the export shipments of Bulgarian sunflower seed totaled 0.87 mln tonnes, against 0.78 mln tonnes as of the beginning of the reporting month. At the same time, Bulgaria supplied 0.7 mln tonnes of the oilseed from the specified volume to the EU countries.
The stocks of sunflower seed in Bulgaria totaled 0.61 mln tonnes. At the same time, the country needs 280 thsd tonnes of the oilseed only to cover the domestic consumption. Thus, the market operators believe that Bulgaria can export more than 300 thsd tonnes of the oilseed until beginning of the new crop harvesting campaign.
As of April 25, on the Bulgarian market of sunflower seed the EXW price totaled 440-460 USD/t, which was lower compared with the previous week index (465-470 USD/t). Also, the CPT price fell to 460-480 USD/t (479 USD/t), and the price on terms FOB-Black Sea - to 480-490 USD/t (485-490 USD/t).
