APK-Inform Agency and Ukrainian Grain Association announce the first Agrarian Investment Forum, which takes place in Cyprus (Limassol, Amathus Hotel) on September 11-12, 2017.

The event is held under support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The subject of the Forum is mainly determined by the fact that to date, the agricultural sector is the most dynamically developing branch of the Ukrainian economy, which conditions the need for significant investment inflows. According to the official statistics figures, in 2016 the volume of capital investments in the Ukrainian agriculture and provision of various related services totaled 44.2 bln UAH, up 1.5 times compared with the previous year.

At the same time, to date the logistic infrastructure of the agricultural sector of Ukraine is one of the main directions which require attraction of investment funds at more than 2.7 bln USD. In particular, nearly 1.5 bln USD of the reporting sum are designed for development of storage facilities, nearly 0.6 bln USD - development of the logistics of river transportation of grains, and 0.6 bln USD - for development of the railway segment of the Ukrainian agrarian logistics.

At the same time, to date owned assets and borrowed investment resources by agricultural enterprises are the main source of capital investments for the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex, while foreign investors have not demonstrated any senior activity yet.

The last-mentioned factor became the main reason for holding of the first Agrarian Investment Forum. And the organizers chose Cyprus as the event venue for good reason - it is the acknowledged global center of investment activity and one of the largest investors in the Ukrainian economy.
