Ukraine: number of offers of high-quality maize in January is higher than in January 2012
According to experts of APK-Inform Agency, in the beginning of 2013 the number of offers of feed maize, which qualitative indicators completely meet the requirements of GOST (State Standards), is higher compared with the same period last season.
According to the market operators, the situation with grain quality during these periods led to the situation that the difference in prices for the low- and high-quality grain significantly in the current MY.
Thus, in January 2012 the purchasing prices of processing enterprises for the grain varied within the range of 1260-1420 UAH/t EXW. In January 2013 the price range totaled 1230-2030 UAH/t EXW. At the same time, traders purchase maze of the lowest quality at the minimum prices. But the bid prices for maize with the qualitative indices relevant to the GOST requirements, start from the mark of 1730 UAH/t on the same terms.
The market participants note that at the end of the first half of 2011/12 MY, the supply of high-quality maize was very little, which did not stimulate traders and processors to pay high prices. At the same time, to date traders and processors report that the market provides offers of the grain with different qualitative characteristics, which causes variation of prices.
