Ukraine: in 2012/13 MY wheat exports may reach 6.5 mln tonnes – APK-Inform Agency

According to the updated supply and demand balances of grains and leguminous crops, prepared by analysts of APK-Inform Agency, in 2012/13 MY the exports of wheat from Ukraine may reach 6.5 mln tonnes.

According to data of the operating statistics, by the end of December 2012 Ukraine exported nearly 5.9 mln tonnes of wheat. At the same time, the Agrarian Fund of Ukraine announced the planned selling of 300 thsd tonnes of the grain at the end of January 2013, which can be supplied on foreign markets. According to experts, additional 300 thsd tonnes of wheat can be exported in the last months of the season (May-June), when the situation with the prospects of the future harvest is clarified.

In the terms of the specified export volumes, by the end of the current season the carry-over stocks of wheat in Ukraine are estimated by experts of the Agency at the level of 4.9 mln tonnes, which exceeds the average index for the recent 10 years (2.5 mln tonnes).
