In 2013/14 MY Kazakhstan to export 7.8 mln tonnes of wheat – forecast
In the current season Kazakhstan will be able to supply nearly 7-8 mln tonnes of wheat and 1.5-1.8 mln tonnes of wheat flour on foreign markets, declared Zhanna Baytemirova, Head of analytical department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on September 26 during her speech at the international conference "Russian Grain Week: Trade & Trends" in Rostov-on-Don.
While speaking about the export geography of Kazakh wheat and flour in 2012/13 MY, Zh.Baytemirova noted that the countries of Central Asia were the main direction of the grain supplies.
The share of supplies of the reporting commodities to Uzbekistan increased to 26% of the general exports, against 22% in the previous season, Tajikistan - to 15% against 10%. At the same time, the shipments to Afghanistan slightly declined - to 5%, against 9%. The supplies of wheat and flour to Kyrgyzstan remained at the level of 2011/12 MY - 6% last season, against 5% in the previous one, explained the expert.
As for the eastern direction of Kazakh wheat exports, Zh.Baytemirova noted on some increase of grain supplies to Azerbaijan - to 14%, against 10%. At the same time, the volume of wheat exports to Iran slightly declined from 9% to 8% of the general export volumes. The share of Georgia remained at the level of 2011/12 MY - 4%.
