Ukraine: depreciation of rolling stock - one of the main problems of the grain market
According to experts of APK-Inform Agency, as of the beginning of 2013 the condition of most of the rolling stock of grain carriers in Ukraine was at the limit of its serviceability. As it is known, the average rate of operation of the rail car for grain transportation totals 30 years. In the existing fleet of grain rail carriers in Ukraine, to date there are nearly 10% of cars, constructed over 30 years ago and another 59% are already in operation for 25-30 years. Thus, in the following 5 years, the number of rail cars for grain transportation in Ukraine, suitable for use, will rapidly decline, which in turn will create significant problems with maintenance of the domestic and foreign rail transportation of grains.
