Ukraine: grain harvest to fall by 9%
According to the analysts of APK-Inform, in 2014 there will be some decreasing of the general grain production to 57.3 mln tonnes, down 9% compared with the same rate of the previous year.
The experts forecast the wheat harvest significant fall by 14% - to 19.3 mln tonnes. Lower decrease will be faced by barley (down 9% - to 6.9 mln tonnes) and maize (down 6% - to 29 mln tonnes).
The bearish trend is based on reduction of the planted areas by 5.5% - to 15.3 mln ha, as opposed to the rate of the previous year, and the yield decline by 2.9% - to 3.87 t/ha, respectively.
