Ukraine keeps grain export rates at the previously forecasted level - APK-Inform
Despite the difficult political situation in Ukraine, the export rates of grain cargoes remain at the previously forecasted level, and will not face any significant disruptions. According to the operative statistics data, in the period of April 1-17, 2014, Ukraine exported 1.4 mln tonnes of grain cargoes, including 1.2 mln tonnes of grains and pulses. But in the same period of 2013, the exports of grain cargoes from Ukraine totaled 0.9 mln tonnes, including 0.7 mln tonnes of grains. Generally, since beginning of the current season the country already exported 32.9 mln tonnes of grain cargoes, including almost 28 mln tonnes of grain crops.
In particular, in April 2014 Ukraine shipped over 1.3 mln tonnes of grain export cargoes through the sea ports, including 0.8 mln tonnes through sea terminals of Odessa oblast, and 0.3 mln tonnes - through sea terminals of Nikolayev oblast. There is observed redirecting of grain export flows to the terminals of Odessa and Nikolayev oblasts, instead of supplying to the terminals of the Crimea.
According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, until the end of the current season Ukraine may export 31.1 mln tonnes of grains and pulses, including 9 mln tonnes of wheat, 2.2 mln tonnes of barley, and 19.5 mln tonnes of maize. At the same time, capacities of the existing export infrastructure are quite sufficient to reach the reporting indicators, even excluding the Crimean sea terminals.
