Ukraine: nearly 28% of maize exports moved to East Asian countries
According to the official statistics data, in December 2013 Ukraine reached the absolute monthly record of maize exports from Ukraine at the level of over 3.9 mln tonnes. At the same time, in the reporting month Ukraine realized exports of the grain to 37 countries, and the share of maize export volumes supplied to the East Asian countries exceeded 28%.
In December South Korea became the leader among East Asian importers of Ukrainian maize, and purchased 629.6 thsd tonnes of the grain, or 16% of the general export volume from Ukraine. Also, the significant volume of maize (444.7 thsd tonnes, or 11.3%) was supplied to Japan. Generally, in December Ukraine supplied more than 1.1 mln tonnes of maize to East Asian countries, which became the maximum monthly index of grain supplies to the specified region.
