Despite all economic and political difficulties, which influence the Ukrainian grain market, in 2014 the general harvest of grains and pulses in the country may reach the second largest index in the history - at the level of 60.6 mln tonnes, down 3.9% only compared with the record index of 2013 (63.1 mln tonnes), according to APK-Inform estimations.
It is worth noting the losses of agricultural land areas and transshipment capacities in the Crimea, military actions and partial losses of agricultural areas in Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts, significant rise of prices for agricultural resources, fall of the world prices for grains, etc., among the major negative factors affecting the grain market of Ukraine.
In addition, it should be noted that despite the loss of almost 10% of transshipment capacities, located in the Crimea, in July-September of 2014/15 MY the growth rates of grain exports from Ukraine exceeded the same period in 2013/14 MY by 68% - 8.5 mln tonnes, against 5.1 mln tonnes, respectively.
