Until the spring of 2015 the holding KSG Agro plans to launch the production of pellets at the new enterprise, declared Sergei Mazin, General Director of the holding KSG Agro, during the Second round of the V Ukrainian Grain Congress, held in Kiev on November 25-26.

According to the announcement, the company already supplied the required technical equipment, the preparation level of the industrial building totals 70%. It is expected that the plant will produce 60 thsd tonnes of pellets per year. The enterprise will operate two production lines, which the company in the future will be able to update, increasing the production capacity to 90 thsd tonnes per year.

In addition, it is noted that in 2014 farms of the company planted miscanthus throughout 30 ha, and in 2015 KSG Agro will increase the areas to 300 ha. In coming years the holding plans to plant miscanthus throughout nearly 3 thsd ha.

According to S.Mazin, the company should take into account the need to keep the soil properties unchanged in the production of biofuels. He noted that the current biofuel production technologies used by agricultural companies assume the complete combustion of straw, but it is the straw used for restoration of land conditions suitable for planting works.

S.Mazin added that KSG Agro has a chance to keep the soil in even better condition than the company received it. Therefore, some part of the straw should be applied into the soil.

According to the expert, energy plants are some alternative to straw, in particular miscanthus, recognized as the revolutionary agricultural crop for energy production.

KSG Аgro is one of the largest vertically integrated agricultural holdings, which works almost in all segments of the agricultural market, including production, storage, processing, and sale of the agricultural products. The company's assets are located in Khmelnytsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts. The land bank totals 94 thsd ha.
