By 2020/21 MY the annual corn, wheat and barley production volumes in Ukraine will not significantly change, declared Edward W. Allen, Senior Agricultural Economist of the USDA Economic Research Service-Market and Trade Economics Division, at the Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress on March 25.

During five recent seasons Ukraine managed to significantly increase the production of corn, due to record-high grain prices on the world market. But to date the international prices for corn dropped, and in the nearest future they will remain at the same low level. Therefore, Ukrainian grain producers will not increase corn production, he explained.

At the same time, the national currency devaluation processes will prevent Ukrainian producers from significant decreasing of the grain production.

E.Allen noted that wheat production in Ukraine will continue developing, due to the Government influence (food security issues).
