Russia: in 2013 the volume of agricultural production increased by 6.2% - Rosstat
According to preliminary estimations, in 2013 the production volume of agricultural commodities in all agricultural entities of Russia (agricultural organizations, peasant (farming) households, population) in current prices totaled 3.791 trln RUR, an increase of 6.2% compared with the previous year, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on January 27.
According to the announcement, in 2013 the general grain harvest in Russia increased by 28.8% - to 91.3 mln tonnes (in clean weight). In particular, wheat harvest increased by 38% - to 52.1 mln tonnes, rye - up 57.5% to 3.4 mln tonnes, barley – up 10.1% to 15.4 mln tonnes, maize – up 30.1% to 10.7 mln tonnes, oats - up 22.2% to 4.9 mln tonnes, millet - up 24.8% to 416 thsd tonnes, buckwheat - up 4.1% to 829 thsd tonnes.
At the same time, rice production decreased by 12% to 926 thsd tonnes, pulses - down 6.5% to 2 mln tonnes.
According to Rosstat, in 2013 the harvest volumes of sunflower seed increased by 27.7%, to 10.2 mln tonnes.
