Ukraine: Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects for insufficient planted areas of spring crops in the Crimea
To date agrarians of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea planted spring crops throughout the areas of 30 thsd ha. But due to the military intervention of the Russian Federation, agrarians of the peninsula may not have time to plant crops throughout the significant share of the planned areas, declared Ihor Shvaika, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on March 11.
He also noted that to date agrarians of the Crimea face shortage of fuel, which can also cause disruption of the spring crops planting campaign.
In addition, the Minister said that due to the military operations in the Crimea, the supply of grains for exports through the Black Sea ports may be threatened. Therefore, to date the Ministry is working to diversify all possible risks, and ensure the access of grain exporters to the port network.
According to I.Shvaika, agrarians of Ukraine already planted spring crops throughout the areas of 160 thsd ha, or 4% of the planned areas.
