Russia planted spring grains throughout 4.3 mln ha
As of April 23, 2014, agrarians of Russia already planted spring crops throughout the areas of 6.7 mln ha (12.5% of the forecast), an increase of 1.3 mln ha compared with the same date of 2013. In particular, the planted areas of spring grains totaled nearly 4.3 mln ha (13.6% of the forecast), up 1.1 mln ha compared with the same index of April 23, 2013, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
It should be noted that agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the general areas of 359.4 thsd ha (2.7% of the forecast), up 245 thsd ha compared with April 23, 2013; spring barley – 2.3 mln ha (26.4% of the forecast), up 0.5 mln ha. The planted areas of maize grain reached 627.7 thsd ha (24.2% of the forecast).
Also, Russian agrarians started planting buckwheat and rice – as of the reporting date Stavropol Krai planted buckwheat throughout 100 thsd ha, and Krasnodar Krai planted rice throughout 4.5 thsd ha (3.5% of the forecast)
Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 902.9 thsd ha (13%), spring rapeseed - 74.4 thsd ha (6.8%), soybeans - 61.3 thsd ha (3.6%).
