Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, forecasted grain production volumes in the country in 2014 at the average annual level. The press-service of the Ministry made it clear that the harvest will total nearly 15-17 mln tonnes.

Also, the Minister noted that the volume of grain exports will depend on the harvest results. The domestic consumption of wheat totals 6 mln tonnes, including 2 mln tonnes - seeds, 2 mln tonnes - food purposes, and nearly 2 mln tonnes - technological processing and forage purposes. The remaining volumes will be sold abroad in any case, said the Head of the Ministry of Agriculture.

He stressed that the expectations for falling of the world prices for grains from Kazakhstan are quite low. To date the Ministry provides a diversification policy, and promotes reduction of wheat planted areas, which will be adjusted to the domestic consumption requirements and sales opportunities, concluded A.Mamytbekov.
