Russia started planting winter crops

Some regions of the Volga Federal District of Russia and Tomsk oblast started planting winter crops for the harvesting campaign in 2015. As of August 11, agrarians planted winter crops throughout 10.9 thsd ha, or 0.1% of the planned areas (last year - 3.4 thsd ha), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

As of the current harvesting campaign, Russia harvested grain crops throughout the areas of 18.2 mln ha, or 39.1% of the planned harvested areas (in 2013 – 17.2 mln ha). The produced volumes reached 58.8 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight (in 2013 - 46.2 mln tonnes), with the yield of 3.23 t/ha (in 2013 – 2.69 t/ha).

In particular, agrarians harvested winter and spring wheat throughout 12 mln ha, or 47.5% of the harvested areas (in 2013 - 11.2 mln ha). The produced volumes totaled 43.2 mln tonnes (in 2013 - 33.8 mln tonnes) with the average yield of 3.59 t/ha (in 2013 – 3.02 t/ha).

Russia harvested winter and spring barley throughout 3.6 mln ha, or 37.7% of the planned areas (in 2013 - 3.2 mln ha). The produced volumes reached 10.1 mln tonnes (in 2013 - 7.2 mln tonnes) with the average yield of 2.85 t/ha (in 2013 – 2.24 t/ha).

In addition, agrarians harvested winter rapeseed throughout 275.6 thsd ha, or 22.8% of the harvested areas (in 2013 - 243.8 thsd ha). The production totaled 485 thsd tonnes (in 2013 - 412.9 thsd tonnes) with the yield of 1.76 t/ha (in 2013 – 1.69 t/ha).
