Due to heavy rains, Kazakhstan paused works on the spring crops planting campaign, declared Auezkhan Darinov, Chairman of the republican non-governmental association "Union of Farmers of Kazakhstan".
According to him, agrarians temporally stopped planting spring crops in almost all oblasts of the country.
A.Darinov noted that the standard spring planting works should be completed on June 1, in some regions – on June 5. But it is too early to say that the planting campaign is at risk of failure... However, if the rainy weather keeps for 3-4 days, the risk will appear, concluded A.Darinov.
According to forecasts of the National Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazhydromet), in the nearest 3 days rains are expected in Kazakhstan. And according to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of May 18 agrarians planted spring grains throughout 1.283 mln ha (8.8%), as opposed to 1.851 mln ha (12.6%) on the same date last year.
