The planted areas of agricultural crops for the harvest-2015 in all categories of agricultural households in Ukraine totaled 26.7 mln ha, a decrease of 540 thsd ha compared with 2014, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on July 28.
According to Volodymyr Topchiy, Director of the department of crop farming and technical policy at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the areas reduced due to the loss of the territories in Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, agrarians planted grains for the harvest-2015 throughout 14.7 mln ha (down 217 thsd ha), or 55% in the general planted areas. Winter and spring wheat planted areas reached 6.8 mln ha (up 700 thsd ha), barley areas - 2.8 mln ha (down 255 thsd ha), corn - 4.1 mln ha (down 577 thsd ha), buckwheat - 132 thsd ha (down 5 thsd ha).
Also, the areas under sunflower seed decreased by 184 thsd ha (to 5 mln ha), rapseed – down 197 thsd ha (to 684 thsd ha). At the same time, the soybean areas increased by 344 thsd ha, to 2.147 mln ha.
V.Topchiy added that agrarians formed the structure of crops planted areas in accordance with the chosen strategy of development of the enterprises, the level of resource support and market conditions.
