As of February 19, sprouts of winter grains in Ukraine appeared throughout the areas of 6.5 mln ha, or 92% of the planted areas (7.1 mln ha), informed the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Oleksiy Pavlenko on February 19.
According to the announcement, as of the reporting date 67% of the sprouted areas were in good and satisfactory condition (4.3 mln ha), and 33% - in poor and thinned condition (2.2 mln ha). The losses totaled 80 thsd ha. Winter crops were primarily in terms of winter dormancy.
Winter grains did not form sprouts throughout 8% of the planned areas (0.6 mln ha), and such areas are mainly located in Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv oblasts.
In addition, the sprouts of winter rapeseed appeared throughout 586.9 thsd ha (90%), including 389.4 thsd ha in good and satisfactory condition (66%), 192.4 thsd ha in weak and thinned condition (33%), and 5.2 thsd ha of losses (1%). Nearly 10% of rapeseed areas (68.2 thsd ha) did form sprouts. Such fields are mainly located in Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Donetsk oblasts.
