As of March 3, four oblasts of Ukraine started the planting campaign of early spring grains. Agrarians planted grains throughout the areas of 82.8 thsd ha, or 3% of the plan, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, spring barley planted areas reached 64 thsd ha (3%), oats — 1.6 thsd ha, spring wheat - 0.3 thsd ha, and peas — 16.8 thsd ha (9%). At the same time, Odessa oblast planted early spring crops throughout 31.4 thsd ha (19%), Kherson oblast - 24.2 thsd ha (14%), Mykolaev oblast — 21.3 thsd ha (13%), and Zaporizhye oblast – 5.9 thsd ha (3%).
Also, agrarians provided additional fertilizing works of winter grain crops throughout 3.1 mln ha, or 47% of the forecast (in 2015 — 2.5 mln ha), winter rapeseed — 293.5 thsd ha, or 50% (311 thsd ha).
