Warm winters, which were observed during several recent years, will contribute to growing of the yield indices of agricultural crops, declared the Head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia, Alexander Frolov on March 23.

According to him, in terms of correct care provision, winter crops usually increases its yield indices. Generally, warm winters will increase the yield of crops in Russia by 8-12%. Also, A.Frolov noted that soil degradation is one of the major risks caused by increasing of the average air temperatures in the winter period.

At the same time, he said that in the current year, wintering of agricultural crops became much better than it was previously expected.

According to Roshydromet forecasts, not more than 7% of winter grains and pulses areas will be lost, although the standard index totals 8-10%. The Federal Service expects for good harvest results, said A.Frolov.
