Russia planted spring crops throughout nearly 0.9 mln ha

As of March 31, agrarians of Russia planted spring crops throughout 897.1 thsd ha, or 1.7% of the planned areas (52.6 mln ha), a decrease of 31% compared with the same date last year (1.3 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 639.7 thsd ha (2.1%), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the Southern Federal District planted spring crops throughout 384.4 thsd ha (6.2% of the plan), the North Caucasian District – 341 thsd ha (18.9%), the Central District – 36.5 thsd ha (0.4%), the Far Eastern District – 2 thsd ha (0.1%), and the Crimean District – 133.2 thsd ha (53.5%).

In addition, some regions of the south of Russia started planting sunflower seed. So, the Chechen Republic and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania planted the oilseed throughout 0.9 thsd ha and 0.5 thsd ha, respectively.

Also, Russian agrarians provided additional fertilizing works of winter grains throughout 8 mln ha from the planted areas at 16.4 mln ha (or 48.7%).
