As of April 4, agrarians of Russia planted spring crops throughout 1.1 mln ha, or 2% of the planned areas (52.6 mln ha), a decrease of 0.5 mln ha compared with the same date last year. At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 697.5 thsd ha, or 2.2% (in 2015 – 1.1 mln ha), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, the Southern Federal District planted spring crops throughout 493.8 thsd ha (8% of the plan), the North Caucasian District – 346 thsd ha (19.1%), the Central District – 47.7 thsd ha (0.5%), the Far Eastern District – 8.6 thsd ha (0.5%), and the Crimean District – 158 thsd ha (63.5%).
In addition, some regions of the south of Russia started planting sunflower seed. So, the Chechen Republic, the Republics of North Ossetia-Alania and Crimea planted the oilseed throughout 7.1 thsd ha, or 0.1% of the forecast (in 2015 – 41.1 thsd ha).
