As of April 7, agrarians of Ukraine started the planting campaign of corn for grain. To date, the planted areas reached 28.1 thsd ha in 13 oblasts. The planned areas under corn total nearly 4.5 mln ha, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
As of the reporting date, agrarians planted early spring grains throughout the areas of 1.744 mln ha, or 69% of the plan, an increase of 127 thsd ha compared with the same date last year.
In particular, agrarians planted spring barley throughout the areas of 1.294 mln ha (67%), peas — 169 thsd ha (91%), oats — 154 thsd ha (70%), and spring wheat — 126.5 thsd ha (73%).
18 oblasts of Ukraine planted sunflower seed throughout 305.4 thsd ha (6%).
Also, agrarians provided additional fertilizing works of winter grain crops throughout 6.66 mln ha, or 96% of the forecast (in 2015 — 6.91 mln ha), winter rapeseed — 481.1 thsd ha, or 86% (730 thsd ha).
