As of April 25, Russian agrarians planted spring crops throughout the areas of 8.6 mln ha, or 16.4% of the forecast (52.6 mln ha), which significantly exceeded the index on the same date last year (5.1 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 5.1 mln ha, or 16.5%, as opposed to 3.1 mln ha in 2015, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the Southern Federal District planted spring crops throughout 3.1 mln ha (50% of the plan), the North Caucasian District – 1 mln ha (55.7%), the Central District – 3.3 mln ha (36%), the Far Eastern District – 170 thsd ha (9.3%), the Volga District – 744.5 thsd ha (4.8%), the Northwestern District – 65.3 thsd ha (13.5%), the Ural District – 1.7 thsd ha, and the Crimean District – 213.7 thsd ha (85.8%).

As of the reporting date, agrarians of Russia planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 623.2 thsd ha (4.5% of the forecast), spring barley — 2.5 mln ha (30.5%), corn for grain - 1.1 mln ha (36%), sunflower seed — 1.3 mln ha (18.7%), spring rapeseed — 56.4 thsd ha (6.2%), and soybeans – 111.3 thsd ha (5%).

Also, agrarians of Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Kalmykia started planting rice, which areas reached 5.8 thsd ha and 0.3 thsd ha, respectively.
