As of May 26, Russian agrarians planted spring crops throughout the areas of 42.2 mln ha, or 80.3% of the forecast (52.6 mln ha), which significantly exceeded the index on the same date last year (39.7 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 26.1 mln ha, or 84%, as opposed to 23.9 mln ha on the same date in 2015, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 11.5 mln ha (87.1% of the forecast), spring barley — 6.9 mln ha (85.1%), corn for grain – 2.5 mln ha (83.8%), and rice – 171.5 thsd ha (84.2%).
Also, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 6 mln ha (86.3%), spring rapeseed — 746.2 thsd ha (81.5%), soybeans – over 1.2 mln ha (56%), and flaxseed — 41.2 thsd ha (79.8%).
