As of May 30, Russian agrarians planted spring crops throughout the areas of 45.6 mln ha, or 86.8% of the forecast (52.6 mln ha), which significantly exceeded the index on the same date last year (42.3 mln ha). At the same time, the planted areas under spring grains reached 28.4 mln ha, or 91.5%, as opposed to 25.7 mln ha on the same date in 2015, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 12.9 mln ha (97.7% of the forecast), spring barley — 7.3 mln ha (90.6%), corn for grain – 2.6 mln ha (85.9%), and rice – 179.6 thsd ha (88.1%).
Also, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 6.3 mln ha (90%), spring rapeseed — 790.5 thsd ha (86.3%), soybeans – 1.3 mln ha (59.5%), and flaxseed — 41.7 thsd ha (80.8%).
