According to preliminary data, agricultural households of all categories in Russia (agricultural organizations, farmers, population) planted grain crops and pulses for the harvest-2016 throughout the areas of 47.2 mln ha, an increase of 0.6% compared with the previous year, or up 275 thsd ha, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on July 20.
According to the announcement, the planted areas under sunflower seed totaled 7.5 mln ha, sugar beet – 1.1 mln ha.
In particular, the planted areas of wheat increased by 817 thsd ha compared with the last year results (up 3%), sugar beet – up 87 thsd ha (up 8.5%), and sunflower seed — up 518 thsd ha (up 7.4%).
The major share of planted areas of grains and pulses is concentrated at agricultural organizations – 68%. But the share of such planted areas at peasant (farmer) households totaled 30.9%, added Rosstat.
