According to market participants, in the current season in the European part of Russia the qualitative characteristics of new crop of wheat became significantly lower compared with last year.
In particular, there is observed rather insufficient volumes of high-quality 3-grade wheat. Therefore, during two recent weeks the market often demonstrated rather high prices for the grain.
Qualitative parameters of wheat reduced due to unfavorable weather conditions, established in the territory of the majority of Federal Districts of the European part of Russia in the very beginning of the harvesting campaign, and during the harvesting period. Heavy rains led to decreasing of protein and gluten content by nearly 10-12% compared with the previous MY.
According to representatives of grain processing companies, reduction of the total supply of wheat with the required quality requirements will strengthen domestic prices during the whole season.
