Due to good weather conditions, Ukrainian agrarians plan to increase the planted areas under winter crops for the harvest-2017 by 4% compared with last year - to 7.3 mln ha, declared the Deputy director of the department of farming and technical policy in the agro-industrial complex at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Leonid Suhomlyn on August 17.
Last year there were difficult climatic conditions in the autumn period, and agrarians failed to plant crops throughout 100% of the planned areas, he said.
According to L.Suhomlyn, the Ministry does not expect any major changes in the structures of grain crop planted areas in Ukraine in the coming years. Wheat will still cover nearly 55% of the planted areas, and remain the major food crop.
