In 2016, 2-grade barley became the major grain type in the general harvest volumes of barley in Russia, declared the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) on October 28.
According to the announcement, specialists of Rosselkhoznadzor examined barley grain throughout 2.578 mln tonnes, or 38.1% of the harvest volumes. So, 1-grade barley formed 3.76% of the surveyed volumes, 2-grade barley - 96.22%, and non-grade barley - 0.02% (0.5 thsd tonnes).
In the current year, Rosselkhoznadzor examined barley stocks in the North Caucasian, Southern, Volga, Siberian and Ural Federal Districts. At the same time, the Federal Service examined the quality of barley in the Southern and North Caucasian Districts at more than 50%.
