In 2016, the European part of the CIS countries will produce a record high grain harvest - 189 mln tonnes, an increase of 9% compared with 2015, declared the portal Ukrainian Electronic Grain Exchange GrainTrade.com.ua on January 3, with reference to the FAO press-service.

It is noted that the general grain production mainly increased due to the growth of wheat production, which is estimated at 102 mln tonnes, up 11% compared with the results of 2015.

According to the announcement, the Russian Federation will harvest 115 mln tonnes of grains, up 13% compared with 2015. In Ukraine, the general grain production will also increase by 6% compared with 2015, to 63 mln tonnes. Due to good grain yield indicies, Moldova will increase grain production by almost 30%. However, it is expected that Belarus will reduce grain production to 7.5 mln tonnes.

As a reminder, as of December 27, 2016, Ukraine exported 21.85 mln tonnes of grains.
