In 2017, Kazakhstan increased the production volumes of low-quality grains in 4 times, declared the First Vice-Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Aituganov on May 30.

In 2011, the production of 1-, 2-, 3-grade grain totaled 88%, and in 2016 - 45% only. At the same time, the share of lower-quality grain (4-, 5-grades) increased from 10% in 2011, to 41% in 2016, said K.Aituganov.

According to him, the government decided restore subsidies for original and elite seeds in order to improve the situation. The subsidy assistance for seed industry reaches 7.7 bln KZT, up 3.2 times compared with the figures for 2016.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to establish a legislative rule to oblige commodity producers to use high-quality seeds, and administrative penalty for failure to comply with such requirements.

Kazakhstan already completed the spring field works throughout 85%, added the First Vice-Minister of Agriculture.

Despite the late spring, the planting campaign rates developed at the last year level, and in some regions they even exceeded the figures of 2016. In 2017, agrarians increased the planted areas under most required crops by 932 thsd ha, added K.Aituganov.
