In 2018, the general production of three major oilseeds (sunflower seed, soybeans, rapeseed) in Russia will total 17.28 mln tonnes, an increase of 2.5 mln tonnes compared with the record figures last year (15.61 mln tonnes), declared the Director at LLC ProZerno, Vladimir Petrychenko during his report within frames of the agro-logistics forum "Dnieper-Danube-Black Sea" in Chișinău (Moldova) on October 2.
Traditionally, sunflower seed formed the main share of the reporting volumes. In 2018, the oilseed harvest will reach the level of 11 mln tonnes, which almost corresponds to the results achieved two years ago. The harvest volumes of rapeseed will reach 1.9 mln tonnes (up 0.4 mln tonnes, against the figures in 2017). As for soybeans, in 2018 the harvest volumes in Russia will significantly increase in comparison with the last year level — from 3.62 mln tonnes to 4.35 mln tonnes, said the analyst.
According to V.Petrychenko, in 2018 the expected growth of sunflower and soybean harvest volumes will develop, due to expansion of the planted areas and increasing of the yield figures. So, the harvested areas under Russian sunflower seed will vary at the level of 8.1 mln ha, as opposed to 7.9 mln ha, and the yield will total nearly 1.36 t/ha, against 1.33 t/ha last year. In the current year, the areas under soybean will increase from 2.64 mln ha to 2.92 mln ha, and its yield will total 1.49 t/ha, against 1.37 t/ha last year.
As for rapeseed, then the situation is somewhat different. The growth of the areas under the oilseed will provide the expected production increase — from 1 mln ha in 2017, to 1.56 mln ha in the current year. Such significant upward trend will compensate the significant decline in the oilseed yield — from 1.5 t/ha in 2017, to nearly 1.2 t/ha in the current year, added the speaker.
Also, V.Petrychenko announced the forecast that in the future agrarians of the European part of Russia will reduce the planted areas under sunflower, and focus on the production of soybeans.
