Ukraine: record yield figures of crops in several oblasts

In 2018, some oblasts of Ukraine demonstrated the record high yield figures of corn, sunflower seed, soybeans and sugar beet for the whole contemporary history, declared the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Maksym Martynyuk.

Vinnytsia oblast reached the highest yield of corn — 9.36 t/ha, followed by Kyiv oblast — 8.36 t/ha, and Sumy oblast — 8.33 t/ha. Also, Khmelnytskyi oblast demonstrated the record yield of sunflower seed — 3.1 t/ha, as well as Cherkasy oblast — 3.06 t/ha, and Vinnytsia oblast — 3.05 t/ha. At the same time, Zaporizhia oblast formed the maximum yield of soybeans — 3.3 t/ha, as well as Kherson oblast — 3.28 t/ha, and Khmelnytskyi oblast — 2.93 t/ha. In addition, the largest yield figures of sugar beet were demonstrated in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv oblasts, which totaled 53.7 t/ha, 50 t/ha, 49.7 t/ha, respectively.

According to M.Martynyuk, agrarians of Ukraine already fulfilled the autumn planting works throughout 4.5 mln ha, or 63% of the planned areas. For the first time for 7 recent years, the situation with the soil moisture provision was quite optimum in all oblasts of Ukraine. In the second ten-day period of October 2018, agrarians will plant winter crops throughout nearly 95-96% of the planned areas, stressed the Deputy Minister.
