Russia: grain harvest in 2012 totaled 70.676 mln tonnes – Ministry of Agriculture
In 2012, the general production volumes of grains and leguminous crops in Russia totaled 70.676 mln tonnes in clean weight, a decrease of 25% compared with the previous year, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on January 9.
According to the announcement, grain volumes formed 68.502 mln tonnes of the indicated harvest, including winter and spring wheat - 37.717 mln tonnes, winter and spring barley – 13.939 mln tonnes, maize for grain - 7.994 mln tonnes, winter and spring rye - 2.133 mln tonnes. Also, last year Russia harvested 4.027 mln tonnes of oats, 1.052 mln tonnes of rice, 796 thsd tonnes of buckwheat and 336 thsd tonnes of millet.
As for the harvest of oilseeds, in 2012 the general production of sunflower seed in Russia totaled 7.959 mln tonnes, soybeans - 1.88 mln tonnes, winter and spring rapeseed - 1.035 mln tonnes.
