European part of Russia showed a significant lag of the planting campaign rates
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of October 3 agrarians planted winter crops throughout the areas of 8.2 mln ha, a decrease of 4.6 mln ha (or 36%) compared with the same date last year.
At the same time, the reporting lag is formed in the districts of Russia with the largest forecasted planted areas. Thus, the Central Federal District showed a significant backlog of the planted campaign rates, where as of the reporting date agrarians planted winter crops throughout 2.1 mln ha from the planned 3.9 mln ha (down 44% compared with last year), the Southern Federal District - 1.9 mln ha from the planned 5.3 mln ha (down 48%), and the North Caucasian District - 0.03 mln ha from the planned 2.1 mln ha (down 97%). In the Volga Federal District the lag totaled 6% compared with the last year rates – agrarians planted crops throughout 4 mln ha of the planned 4.7 mln ha.
At the same time, the Ural, Far Eastern, Northwestern and Siberian Federal Districts even increased their rates of winter crops planting campaign compared with last year, however the share of these districts in the general structure of winter crops planting works in Russia is less than 3%.
As a reminder, the forecasted areas of planting of winter crops for the harvest-2014 in Russia total 16.4 mln ha.
