In 2013 Russia increased grain harvest by 30% - Ministry of Agriculture
According to preliminary data, in 2013 Russia produced almost 97 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight, an increase of 30% compared with the previous year results, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on December 23.
Agrarians harvested grains and pulses throughout 99.7% of the planned areas, with the yield of 2.3 t/ha, up almost 20% compared with the same date last year.
In particular, taking into account the losses and transfer to feed purposes, agrarians harvested wheat throughout all planned areas. The production totaled 54.4 mln tonnes, against 39.7 mln tonnes in the previous year. The yield increased by 24% - to 2.31 t/ha.
Also, agrarians already harvested barley throughout all planned areas. Taking into account the losses and transfer to feed purposes, Russia produced 16.3 mln tonnes of the grain, up 10.8% compared with than the same date in 2012, with the average yield of 2.01 t/ha, up 4.1%.
Russia harvested maize throughout 95.7% of the planned areas. The production totaled 12 mln tonnes, against 8.3 mln tonnes in the previous year, with the yield of 5.23 t/ha, up 17.5% compared with 2012.
Agrarians already completed the rice harvesting campaign. The production totaled 1.04 mln tonnes, as opposed to 1.2 mln tonnes in 2012, with the average yield of 5.54 t/ha, down 10.3% compared with the same period last year.
