Ukraine planted over 6.1 mln ha of grains and pulses
As of May 5, 2014 agrarians of Ukraine had already planted the grain and legume crops (including maize) throughout the areas of 6.1 mln ha, or 73% of the plan, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the data of the Ministry, as of the same date of 2013 the stated rate had totaled 6.85 mln ha.
In particular, by the reported date in Ukraine the maize had been planted throughout the areas of 3.44 mln ha (67%), buckwheat – 23 thsd ha (14%), millet – 26 thsd ha ( 22%), rice – 6 thsd ha (25%).
At the same time, the sunflower planted areas reached 3.27 mln ha (76%), soybean – 807 thsd ha (49%).
