Russia: wheat general production to remain unchanged in 2014
According to the analysts of APK-Inform, in Russia, in 2014 the wheat general production will total nearly 52 mln tonnes, down 0.2% only, compared to the same rate of 2013. In the current year the wheat yield to reach 2.18 tonnes/ha, as opposed to 2.23 tonnes/ha in 2013.
In 2014, in Russia there will be no significant increase of wheat production due to the winter grain planted areas' decrease. The remaining areas to reach 11.5 mln ha, down 6.8% compared to the same rate of 2013.
At the same time, in the current year the spring wheat planted areas will increase by 5% (to 13.4 mln ha), as opposed to the previous year. Though it is not able to compensate the insufficient winter grain planting.
In total, in 2014 the grain and legumes crops' production will reach the level of 93 mln tonnes, up 0.5% compared to the same rate of the previous year. The grain yield will reach 2.16 tonnes/ha (2.2 tonnes/ha in 2013).
