As of June 1, Ukraine planted spring crops throughout 17.9 mln ha – State Statistics Service
Taking into account replanting works for the perished areas of winter crops and perennial grasses, as of June 1, 2014, Ukraine planted spring crops throughout the areas of 17.903 mln ha, an increase of 2.2% compared with the last year index on the same date, declared the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on June 12.
In particular, agrarians planted grains and pulses (excluding maize) throughout 2.91 mln ha (down 9.4% compared with 2013), including barley - 1.9 mln ha (down 10.5%).
Agrarians expanded the planted area under sugar beet (up 15.6%), sunflower seed (up 9.5%), soybeans (up 33.2%). The areas under maize and spring rapeseed were reduced by 3.4% and 33%, respectively.
