Kazakhstan. Development of agribusiness to be in the focus of new foreign investors meeting
Next session of the Foreign Investors Council will focus on the development of agribusiness in Kazakhstan.
"The next 28th session of the Foreign Investors Council that is set to be held in Shymkent will concentrate on the development of agricultural business," Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, told foreign investors in Borovoye resort on Thursday.
"After much consultation with the Cabinet and our experts, we've decided that the next session will be themed "Development of agribusiness in Kazakhstan". And this is for a reason. The latest research by the World Bank shows that in 2050 world population will hit the mark of 9 billion people and food demand is expected to double. Kazakhstan prides on having enormous agricultural potential. If we boost output per hectare only by 30%, we will produce enough food to meet human needs," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The President also added that Kazakhstan will step up its beef exports to Russia and other countries as part of an ambitious meat exports program.
