Ukraine has rather strong export potential of agricultural crops, and is ready to strengthen its positions on the market of the European Union, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on January 16.
The Minister said that Ukraine is required to harmonize the national legislation with the European Union standards, and start trading those commodities which have not been exported yet.
O.Pavlenko noted that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy made the first steps to work out the framework legislative acts, which establish the requirements for food safety in accordance with the EU standards.
Also, he said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has plans for implementation of the EU laws in the field of GMOs. In addition, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy prepared the draft law "On approval of the plan of action for approaching of the Ukrainian legislation to the EU law on the agro-industrial complex”.
