The Government of the Russian Federation expanded the list of countries subject to the ban on imports of agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs. To date, the food import ban introduced last August against the European Union states, Australia, Canada, Norway and the USA has been expanded to include several other countries, specifically Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein, as well as Ukraine on special terms. Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister, signed the corresponding decree on August 13.

D.Medvedev said that “as for Ukraine, the ban on agricultural imports will enter into force only if its government should implement the economic part of the EU Association Agreement, which Kiev signed in June 2014. We agreed to give some time (until 1 January 2016) to resolve issues of economic regulation”.

According to the announcement, the Ministry of Agriculture worked out the reporting decree in fulfillment of the order of the President of Russia on adoption of the measures aimed at expansion of the ban on the imports of agricultural products, raw materials and food to Russia, by the countries which joined to the economic sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals.
