The Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation proposed to cancel the current export duties on wheat acting since July 1, 2015, and replace them with some other instruments. The reporting proposal is contained in the report "Food embargo: results of 2015" prepared by the Center analysts.

According to the analysts, reduction of grain prices on the domestic market was the major target of the export duties on wheat, which in turn, affects the price formation in numerous related agricultural industries.

It is required the state support in selection of forage crops (corn, soybeans) in order to reduce the production prime cost in the meat and dairy sectors instead of imposing of the export duties on grains, informed the analysts.

As a reminder, in late April 2016 the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Alexander Tkachev said that the Russian government did not see any reason to cancel the export duties on wheat.
