Moldova: in 2012 the volume of agricultural commodities production decreased by 23.3%
According to preliminary data, in 2012 the volume of agricultural commodities production in Moldova decreased by 23.3% compared with 2011, declared Vladimir Filat, Prime Minister of Moldova.
The Premier noted that reduction of the general production volumes of the agricultural industry in Moldova in the reporting year was caused by the decrease of both plant growing and livestock production, due to the severe drought in the summer of 2012.
Taking into account the high share of agricultural commodities in the structure of the gross domestic product of the Republic of Moldova, the GDP losses in the reporting year totaled 2.5%, due to the drought.
As a reminder, during 9 months of 2012 the general production of agricultural commodities in all categories of enterprises in Moldova decreased by 21.6% compared with the same period in 2011.
